I know you're probably expecting another pic of a Red-tailed hawk but these White-tailed Kites were very alert to the Red-tail that was circling overhead. I have shot this pair many times over the past couple of years at Batiquitos Lagoon near my home, and I've seen them go after the Red-tail on occasion (2nd pic). I was watching them through my 500mm Nikkor and I was wondering why they kept looking up. When I looked up, I could not see anything. After a minute or two of this I looked up with my binoculars and sure enough, way way up there was a Red-tail circling. Ah to have the eyes of a raptor.



These Kites used to be know as "Black-shouldered" which you can see in this little sortie with the hawk.
