Herbert Keppler, photo industry giant, 82

Herbert Keppler, former publisher of Modern and Popular Photography magazines and one of the most respected and influential figures in the history of the camera industry, died Friday night due to heart failure after a brief illness. He was 82.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Keppler was a giant in the industry and I remember reading his columns religously back in the film days. His efforts to clean up the mail order business really lead to the success of online companies today.

He greatly contributed to all aspects of photography. He will be missed.
