Hi James:

Comparing the two monitors on Dell's website, besides costing $270.- more than the 2709; the differences I see are that the 2408 swivels, appears to have several inputs not available on the 2409, and appears to have a much greater contrast ratio.

Desktop computer prices are already quite attractive, and should drop a bit more leading up to the holiday shopping season.
