Do you pose the subjects completely or try to "catch" them in just the right positions?

I'm thinking about the tail placement in #2.

On the walking shot, do you start them out of frame and get them as they come in front of camera position?




Everything is posed. The owner is always there with a brush or comb for grooming touch up and to adjust the tail if the cat swishes it the wrong way, and if I'm lucky another person is there to help 'wrangle' the cats. Most poses are achieved with a combination of a playful kitty, a tease or two and audible cues....and a LOT of patience.

The walking shot is the most difficult to get. I start them on one side of the shooting deck tease them into a strut then do whatever it takes to get them to look at the camera.
