Not sure I understand the scary part every one else is coming up with. My cat talks to me allllll the time....thats about the right look of a cat just chatting with you.

Attitude sure....my cat has LOTS of attitude with talking to us.

But then the animal kingdom when seeing us talking probably things were angry as a flash of teeth (the usual human part of speach) usually means somthing entirely diffrent to animals.
