Wow...that's pretty sad. I have used Cathy's about 5 years ago when I used to print in house. Always was pleased with her results. But that was 5 years ago.

Maybe as equipment to do that kind of work has become more affordable, her business may have fallen off. Was the check cashed? (did it clear your bank?) if so that I would say go after her. If it hasn't, then you can assume she is off line and no longer practicing in the art of color profile creation.

You might want to look into your own kit. Spend once and have the product whenever you need it.
