Jim:

We entered Florida at Pensacola and followed HWY 98 along the Gulf Coast until it merged with US 19/27, which we took South. We skirted the Orlando and Tampa/St Petersburg areas on I-75. The closest we got to Orlando was a night in a KOA at Wildwood. Around Naples, we took US 41 (Tamiami Trail) the rest of the way down. While in Florida, we stayed at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park - which is more like a fancy RV Park, Manatee Springs SP, Crystal River Preserve SP, Rainbow Springs SP, Homosassa Wildlife SP - which is like a wildlife rehabilitation facility , Myakka River SP, Gulf Coast of Everglades NP, and Flamingo Campground at the tip of Everglades NP.

I have to say, in my opinion Florida has the best and most extensive State Park system I have encountered in all my travels and people sure seem to take good advantage of them.
