well, maybe the detached leg in the Halloween photo is a bit much but these are very cute. Looks like you used one light set off slightly to the left side as you face the dogs. I try to use 2 lights to get even illumination on black dogs (and I own Rotties so that's how I light them as well).

For a single light setup, I put the light up about 8 feet and center it and bounce it off of a silver umbrella. I'm amazed these guys will wear costumes. Mine like them -- but only to eat .

The Halloween photo is actually a two light setup, but the left may be a bit too bright (tight space, probably too close to the big guy). They are also facing almost directly at each other, slightly in front of the dogs and just at head level -- I wanted the pups lit, but tried to keep the light off the background.

Not sure how they become so tolerant, but they let me do most anything to them.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, I like the two different shots...and LOL, I get a kick out of the leg (no pun intended). The one thing I will add is that you MIGHT want to try a bit of shadow/highlights to bring out the shadow detail in the 2nd shot of the Rotties. It might do nothing, but it might help bring out the fur a bit, particularly around their heads.
