As usual, I am having a hard time deciding which image of the listed three I like the most. What do you think?

1. Right after the sunset with 0.4 second exposure. I was lucky to capture a seagull.

2. About 10 minutes after the sunset; 2.5 sec. exposure. I *almost* got hit by a rogue wave while taking this shot. The water you see is only about 1' away from the camera.

3. Closer to 15 minutes after the sunset; 8 sec. exposure.

Thanks for your thoughts on the matter!!

Misha

Hi Misha,

I have looked at your images several times. I think I prefer the last two the most - and entirely for subjective reasons. I like the intensity of the skies in the 2nd and 3rd images the most. The last is my favorite because the forground is also moderately clearer as well.

Over-all, an excellent effort. These are some of the best images you have posted here to date (in my opinion).

Thank you
James

I like the third best, though must admit I love that the seagull adds a sense of scale.

I prefer No3. I don'y like the bird on the rock in No1.

#2 - I like the blended effect of the foam on the water - that said, I'd personally like the backsdies of the rocks in all the shots more exposed, but it's a tough call on the spot.

Overall, # 2 - nothing wrong with the others, just prefer the feeling of motion the water imparts.

My only, overall, suggestion, is as mentioned above - next time, more exposure on the backside of the rocks - may mean waiting a few more minutes to ensure the sky's not too bright, though. See, tough call to have to make on the spot.

I love the shots colors and the dreamy seafoam. Very creative use of the shutter speed. If I had any cretique it wouldnt be of any of the variables you tried....it would be in composition. The weird part is I see lines of composition like the waterway diagionally from the lower left up to the upper right (where the seagull is) and the horizon is at about a 1/3 way down...all classic pieces of proper compostition. For this reason....shot #1 seems to bring it together best (for me) and I personally think the seagull brings a dynamic element to the shot. I have one question though....how long were you in the area before the light started to pop? (personally I am notorious for arrivng just as the light starts and I have to scramble to get where I need to be.....lol.)

What I am getting at is did you have time to stomp around and visualize what you wanted?....play with camera angles, and available safe shooting spots?

Hopefully you understand I'm not picking your shot apart(I always do...lol)....I really like and follow your work....and I would want somone to tell me what I need to bring me up to the next level. You have good raw talent.....and I can see what your heart is seeing....its just not fully getting recorded.

First time I have posted so hope I'm doing the correct thing here. I'm at a little bit of a lost why no one picked #1. Absolutely of the three gives the feeling of sunset, movement, bird with one last look to final sun, didn't like contrails in sky but PP can take care of that. the others were ok but the blur just didn't do it for me(I like blur). I think that(blur) was in direct conflict with the sky. On #1 water, through opening, to bird, to sunset and back again I can see it all, the others freeze you in one part of the frame or another. all great shots--ron s.

nice shots! misha. i like all of them. the first one being the most.

the last second of the setting sun making the picture much more interesting than other two. the seagull is an added element to live up the picture.

regards
