If you go to the North Rim, be sure to pay attention to the Vermilion Cliffs.

Don:

If you are venturing that far North, then you really ought to time it so you can make a pit stop in Sedona on your way up. Five hour drive out of Tucson, spend the afternoon scouting locations, then catch the evening light. Catch some morning light befor departing to the Canyon.

Thanks for tips folks, we'll surely do Saguaro NP. The wife wants to take me to the North Rim of Grand Canyon as well, since I've never been on that side of the canyon.

These are all great places. Since this is a nature and wildlife forum, we would be remiss to not mention Ramsey Canyon. Ramsey Canyon Nature Preservatory is in southern Arizona and is known primarily as a place with a great variety of hummingbirds (14 different kinds of hummingbirds), but also a wide assortment of other birds and wildlife.

see the link below

http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/arizona/preserves/art1973.html

It is about 1.5 hrs south of Tucson - by Sierra Vista.
