First off let me say I'm an idiot, LOL!! I had to take a mandatory college test yesterday morning so I took the whole day off with plans to go shoot the eagles in the afternoon. Now I normally prefer to shoot my wildlife alone but sometimes have to join the mob (like yesterday) for the special events. So, I'm set up and sort of hanging out waiting for action and couple of older gentlemen set up right behind and start working with some serious glass. One of them look familiar so I figured he's just one of the shooters I pass occasionally at the differnt birding spots. Anyway, they are just shooting and jawing, basically having a good time. Every now and then some one would walk by and say hi to one of the shooters calling him Leonard. So, after awhile they pack up and go and the shooter that had just set up in front of my vehicle say, "did you meet Leonard, you do realize that was Leonard Rue?" Man, I'm an idiot !!!!

Roman,
Can't tell if you're kidding or not but spoken like a true landscape photographer .
Jim,
I'm surprised you saw Leonard. Wasn't he shooting from one of his famous portable blinds .
One time when I was shooting Tule Elk up at Pt Reyes in northern California, and I was making a stealth approach to the herd, I came upon someone (maybe Leonard) in one his blinds. I even looked into getting one for a while, but the idea of sitting in the thing didn't really appeal to me.
Thanks for sharing.

I was in RMNP one Sept and trudging back to the truck with the tripod and a 300 2.8 slung over the shoulder and looked up at an on coming van and a white headed, white bearded guy with a big smile and a big wave goes by me. I just knew it was him, never found out for sure.
If he was tall and thin, most likely it was Leonard; if he was shorter and a bit chubby, it could have been Weldon Lee; both excellent photographers. The big smile and wave sounds most like Weldon Lee-frequently mistaken for Santa
