Greetings all. I look forward to your comments on my work. I've been at photography for a while, but will be displaying work that is generally less than three years old, with a switch to digital.

My online portfolio is at http://www.photo.net/photos/jlever . My most recent postings are the black and white images of Arizona, located at the bottom of the page.

Thank you in advance,
John

I like a lot of the shots on your site. There were three that stood out for me. The first was the faux infared stream. How did you do it? The second was the grand canyon gnarled tree. The one thing about that image is that I would have zoomed out a bit and made the tree not quite so prominant. You lose the grand canyon in the process during this one. The last one was the key west sky. That is a great shot. Your macro shots and butterflies are also good. Are they live subjects?

Thank you for your comments! The butterflies are indeed, live subjects. I took them with a mid-grade Sony with an add-on macro converter - the whole rig costing less than some macro lenses!!! The three shots that you mentioned were all made with the Sony; the same converter also had a wide angle mode, used for the KW sky. I'm adding some new macro shots with the Nikon.

thanks again,
John

Which Nikon are you getting? I am amazed that these were done with a point and shoot. Merry Christmas.

Thanks again for your comments. I got the Nikon D-70, with the kit 18-70 lens and then added a Sigma 70-300. There are some photos on my page made with the Nikon, notably all of the Marsh Sunrise series, plus a few in the landscape section.

The ones that you commented on were made with the Sony, as indicated. The Sony is the DSC-S75, which has full control, up to A/S priorities and manual, plus +/- stop controls. That increases the creative control a lot.

thanks,

John

Hey John,

Thanks for posting your site. I apologize I did not comment until now. You have some nice shots on there. I particularly like the first shot - the Marsh Pond. Great light and composition.

They Key West Sky is a great photo too. Also, I agree that your butterfly connection is pleasing to the eye.

Are you considering developing your own website? Photo.net is a great website, but you may benefit from developing your own website.

James

Hi, John,

Welcome to the forum! You have beautiful galleries. I particularly enjoyed the butterflies and the b&w rendition of the Grand Canyon images. Very nice!

Hope to see more from you.

Regards,

Dick:)
