Hey Everyone,

Next week, Chanthee and I are heading off for a couple of weeks. A few days will be spent heading towards Cambria (where the elephant seals are) and Monterey before heading out to Death Valley for a few days. I have never been to Cambria or Monterey before. Any tips/thoughts about where to shoot?

James

Have a good time James. I've never been either, so I cant help you, but enjoy the weather, i'm sure it will be nice to get a dose of "summer" while your home town is just starting into spring!

James,

As I'm sure you know, the California coast between Morro Bay and Monterey is some of the most beautiful in the world. Seascape shots abound along the whole coast so bring your UWA and be ready for some panorama shots. There are miles of rocky shore with great tide pools. Sea Lions, Harbor & Elephant Seals, Sea Otters and Grey Whales can be seen all along this coast line so bring a good tele.

While in Cambria you should do a tour at Hearst Castle. This will give you some great architectural shots. The state of California has done a great job of preserving this hodgepodge of architectural styles.

In Monterey you get the requisite Cannery Row shots of restored buildings. Do not miss the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It offers all sorts of wonderful shots of Marine life. Their jellyfish exhibit is great.

You should have a great time.

BTW, I'm off to Death Valley next week.

Geo
