Julie,
the movement is a combination of incredible reach and drive and not enough body length to accommodate that stride underneath her. She's actually sidewinding a bit which is probably not helped by the fact that she's moving in a large circle.

I'll check her out in the ring moving more slowly in a straight line -- down & back -- and see if she stays within herself in that type of movement.

Yes, she's a beautiful girl. Pretty, sweet and confident. I've always loved Weims and she's a very good one.

Hey Jim,

On the first shot, what is the shading at the bottom left and right of the photograph? Was that intentional?

James

James,
it's irrelevant since we're going to cut them off of the background and floor.

James,
here's what the final ad looks like and why the backdrops and floor were not an issue in the original images. I have a pretty good idea of what Linda is going to do with images when I shoot them and so I worry about the things that are important -- the position of the dog, the attitude, the eyes, the handler and all that other stuff that is critical to what Linda will actually use.

If it were simply a portrait session, I'd be concerned about the rest of the environment. Not that portrait sessions are simple but the end product there is a print of the entire image. In an ad shoot, it's the dog and the handler and everything else is irrelevant unless I'm shooting environmental portraits.

Hope that answers your question.

Jim

I saw the ad yesterday when I visited with Jim at his place. Jim, this is stunning; I mean it is Wow. You have captured the essence of the handler and the dog-this is a product of a Champion; Champion dog, handler, cameraman and the post-processing skills of your lovely wife.
