Sam is our Corgi and is almost 15 years old.

Around Christmas 2005, he started loosing the use of his back legs to Degenerative Myelopathy. We got him a set of wheels, but after about two years, his back was too weak to use them and he always preferred to just scoot anyway.

In March of this year he started to lose his front legs too. he is almost completely paralyzed now, but still acts like he wants to be here. He even moves himself around with his chin and what little use he has of his front legs.

He gets daily baths and gets carried up and down stairs. He has his own special little bed. As long as he is not in pain and still acts happy to be around we'll take care of him.

He's also had both rear knees replaced, several masses removed and a few more things over the course of his life. Still he's always been the stubborn little corgi that corgis are known for.

He is a beautiful boy and you wouldn't know by this photo what he has gone through. Dogs really do become part of your family

Jim,
Sam is very cool and that's a great portrait of him. Corgis have tremendous character and you can see that in Sam's eyes. He's happy to just be here.

Thanks for sharing a very special dog.

Jim

Hey Jim,

A beautiful shot of the Corgi. I think that the Queen would be very proud (as I recall, that was the dog of the house) :P.

Cheers
James
