I have used stuffed animals but I agree with Jim, live if better. Jim has his dogs trained so well it is like shooting humans, actually better.

Keep practicing, you have a very good grasp of the basics

Thanks you all!! It is certainly more fun working with the live ones, and it is good for them!

We have quite a ways to go before my 2 are like working with humans, but they are doing pretty well already. My older dog (the big Chi, Dominic) can already be sent to a spot while I am behind the camera, and will change positions somewhat on command (sit down etc). He is great. He will hold his position and facial expression and groan through clenched teeth if I get absorbed and the treat gets to be long in coming, bad me. Hmmm. . haven't even tried the left and right commands he uses in agility yet...

My younger (the bouncy Papillon, Remy) is coming along quite nicely too and will finally hold a stay for a bit while I am behind the camera!!

Challenging at times, but definitely more fun with the live guys!

That must be really impressive to watch your Rottie at work, Jim.
