Julie,
It must be Boston month: I had a shoot last week and it was also a Boston Terrier and his family. I'm just cleaning up some of the selections now and I'll post a few so we can have "dueling Bostons" . So, here's Bogart.

The owners wanted some in B&W so I stuck with my black background. We also did a collage because I was able to get a number of cool expressions from Mr. Bogie.

First up, a basic portrait of the pup.

A traditional Family Portrait.

A Family Portrait with a twist.

And a Bogart Collage.

The owners picked several more and we're working on them this weekend so they can review them when they come to see the puppies.

The hard part about your session was the fact that it had multiple dogs. That always involves a lot of PS work afterwards when we shoot multiples.

More when they're done.

Jim

Wonderful wonderful.

Julie - I was trying to pick out the ones I really liked, and it became impossible. I like them all!! Of the family shot, I like #3 just because of the expressions on the kids. I really really like #4 -- it is just so classic and just plain gorgeous with the background and the chair. If I had to pick a least favorite, it would be #1 just because I'm not to partial to the wide spacing between the middle shot and the end shots.

And Jim, what can I say. They are gorgeous. #1 - just a beautiful classic portrait that brought tears to my eyes. The family shots are great - super lighting -- is it 1 softbox straight on? I'm not usually a fan of selective color, but it really works with the family shot, and the collage is simply fantastic. Love the Bogart background.

Big thumbs up from me to both of you.

Julie,
I use 2 AB 400s set about 10 feet apart and bounced off of 42-inch silver umbrellas set at 6 foot height. I just like the light from the umbrellas better than from my softboxes.

Nothing fancy in terms of exposure. F8 @ 1/200. Let's me concentrate on the subjects.

Best baiter was Sundance sitting just outside of the studio and whining because he wanted to play with Bogart. Bogart wasn't too sure that was a good idea .

It is paper I am using(the blue) and I will have to look up which blue it is. I love paper, it gives such a clean look.

At the end of this hall, I have three rolls of paper hung like paper towels. It is my paper shooting area

Cute photos of Bogart!! I really love the first one. The collage is really cute too

Julie, I had a request to do a Bogart collage some time ago and the usage fee was unbelieveable. Were you able to find a copyright free Bogart image?

I really like the reddish brown background. Looks great with skin tones.
Now that you have been in the studio for a short time, how is it going? Do you love everything you did to put it together?

I love having the studio. I have so much more room to work in. I am picking up a motorized backdrop holder this week. I have my muslins on a wire, so they are ready to go also. With the paper hung in another area, it makes life soooo much easier.

I am going to take the rescue whippet to the studio today and get some neat photos of her. I think I will use pink paper with her.
