This is one from my last shoot.

I actually like the way the backdrop folds and curves down toward the dog. It gives a Napoleon type posture / feel.

I don't like the catchlights, which I will have to fix before I print.

I want to get a firm, but portable surface to put under the backdrop for these soft surface shoots, but the owner liked this look better than the ones done on the hard floor. Personally, loosing the feet bugs me to death, but I suppose it isn't about what I like.

What do you think?

Hey Jim,

Really cute shot! Thanks for sharing.

Composition/use of frame space - The composition is very nciely done. The poor thing looks like he is going to pop off of the screen. I would be interested if you took any at the same angle though tighter? I hear what you say about the feet getting lost, and for some it may be a nit-pick. It does not bother me at all - though I am not a show person, and I would be curious to see what Jim or Julie or others might make of this.

Colors/White Balance - VERY NICE. The rich, saturated reds go perfectly with the dog's like colors.

Exposure - Nicely done. You really did a great job. Keeping the eyes from turning into shadow when shooting a light dog like this can be difficult.

Emotion - I get a real kick out of this guy. You are right, the guy sure is bug-eyed. I am attempting to view this shot as if I were the dog's owner. I would be VERY satisfied.

Post processing - Again, well done.

Cheers
James

Thanks James,

I got some tighter frames, but none at this angle. The owner seemed to pick one more formal looking picture and one more humorous picture for each dog.

Here's the funny one:

Grrrrrr,,, Stand by . . .

Too late for me to edit the original posts. That's what I get for not paying attention when I change things on my hosting site

Edit.

I've got it all messed up at the moment. I'll have to fix it later.

100% Cotton Filigree pattern from Joanne's. We got 10 yards, cut it half and sewed the 2 5-yard sections together.
