Just curious if anyone has played with, or shoots infrared? I picked up an old Olympus c2020z off ebay for $50, bought a few pieces from B&H to set it up and I've been toying with infrared. I think the look is very cool. Now granted, the IQ from this setup is pretty bad but I need to test before I do any real investing in this. I am contemplating picking up a 30D and converting to full time IR. We went up to our lake house this week for a few days and I took some test shots. Here is a sample. The possibilities are endless and I think this could add some "signature shots" to what you offer as part of your overall packages. Any thoughts / experiences?

LOoks like fun ,I thought about converting my d100 to infrared, does it work better on images that have a lot of direct sunshine, or will it work just as well on foggy shots or ???

Randall, I have found that with the camera I am using now sunny is best, and either morning or afternoon seems to give the best results. I took some shady area shots and the greens still turn white but not as bright. This camera also does not allow for custom white balance and to get real bright whites and still get color to convert, you should set your white balance on any grass or foliage. It just so happens I went and purchased a brand new 30D last night (the price was excellent) and I will likely be sending in to Life Pixel this week to do the conversion. You really can't get the full effect on here looking at the images, I will tell you they look amazing at full resolution and that's only form a 2mp 11 year old P&S camera. The highest quality tiff image I can capture with this thing still is only a 500k file. I can't wait to get the 30D done. I believe there is a market for this. A few select shots at weddings (the younger generation folks love different edgy stuff)and even shooting landmark or special locations and offering prints for sale. In the south people really get turned on as they are not used to seeing things covered in snow or ice so it is very appealing. Again, there are not many photogs offering so it should offer some additional differentiation, plus it's fun!

Also I do have a 5D as my primary body and a 40D as a backup. Did not want to convert either of those. This is extra!

I think the look is cool and anything you can add to the portfolio to make it different is a good idea. Whether there's a market for it is another thing altogether.

I can see some wedding applications, however. Goes along with the use of B&W, selective color and sepia in albums.

Can't wait to see the images from the 30Dir.
