So it's been awhile and thought I would post up one from a week ago.
Arrived at 5:30am and set-up in the dark.
Shot alot that morning in very low light, but got beautiful results with me new D3.
But 1 of my favorite was after an hour was with early full sun on the west side.

C&C Welcome.

Really pretty scene. I'd love to hear more about your post-processing as I see some haloing around the reflected trees that isn't so evident in the trees themselves.

Interesting, I never saw it and had to look hard and tilt my laptop screen to kind of see it.

Shot in RAW and did some level and sat. adjustments in CS3.

Thanks for the comments.

First off...congrats on a spectacular morning....and being there. I can see the moment you had, but there are a few things bothering me on this shot.

1. There is way more blue on the foreground on my calibrated monitor than naturally would occur.

2. The composition is off whack and some of the right hand side just sets the composition on its head. I realize you were trying to capture the top of the trees, but I am thinking this shot is screaming for more of a square crop.

3. There is somthing about the mountain itself that I am just not beliving. The color just seems off as well as the contrast....not sure what it is.

4. Did you do some shadow recovery in the foreground like maybe in RAW? I am seeing the mild halo that usually is indicitive of such adjustments in harsh contrast to the sky.

The only reason I seem to be picking on this a bit....because it IS a nice moment in time....but this has so much potential.....

Very well done.....and very worth a revisit in PP.

Update: I just went through your gallery and almost all the landscape works have the same issues...colors are off, and the PP lacks proper contrast and microcontrast....almost HDR ish.

If that is the look your going for...cool, but if your looking for natural human experience look, your a bit off the mark. Are you using a calibrated monitor?

Roman
