My wife and I have been doing a lot of charity work since James and Matthew passed away. Our goal for this coming year is for a minimum of 30% of our proceeds from our pet photography to go to the Winn Foundation for Feline Health and other charitable organizations for pets.

This is a shelter dog we photographed at Husky House who needs a home.

James,
very pretty puppy and excellent photography. Kudos for the donation. When I shoot Rottie Specialties, I donate a percentage of my proceeds to Rottie Rescue in lieu of a Trophy Donation. I applaud both your work and your efforts to fund feline health research.

James, I am so proud of the two of you. This puppy is lovely and so are the images.
I just called our local shelter yesterday (our county just built a new facility) and volunteered to photograph dogs. Have not heard back yet. Is it difficult to leave the pups there? Are you looking for a spot in your home?

Great donating goal!

Very nice photos. I hope you get some satisfaction knowing that your images will help this little pup find a home. How did you set this up? Two lights? Speedlights or studio lights?

Needless to say, I'm not in the same league as a photographer as you, James. ;-) But here are some of my shelter cats. I have been volunteering my time as a photographer to a local kitten rescue group. They raise beautiful, friendly cats and find great homes for them. Several of these kids have been adopted since I took their photographs.

You've seen Betsy before, but I just love this picture.

And Martha.

Garfield

Sally Mandy

Andrea

Willow (I intended the "soft" edge on Willow's right side. I was experimenting).

I know that many of the photographers who have "made it" with cats photograph show cats: glamorous persians, sleek Siamese. But I really enjoy the mystery mixes, the everyday kitties. I feel that if I have done my job, their personalities and their little souls are right there in their faces.

EG: Betsy is sweet, curious, snuggly
Martha is an Earth Mother type. She is one of the gentlest cats I've ever met. She lost her own kittens, and nursed an orphaned litter.
Sally Mandy is calm, loves laps, loves to purr
Andrea is athletic; a born hunter. She could easily be Athena or Diana- goddess of the hunt.
Garfield is a comedian; always in the thick of things and always into something. He will launch himself at screen doors and hang like a cartoon kitty.
Willow is calm, but somewhat aloof.

See what I mean?

Thanks all for the comments. The color looks off at my office computer for some reason. Hmmmmmmm. Do the colors look right to everyone (i.e. the white backdrop) on your monitors?

As to the set-up, it was a two light set-up (I usually use 3, but I needed to call in one of the poles for the back-drop due to some technical difficulties). I almost always use speedlights these days with Fong Domes attached. Monolights take up too much space in the car, and I rarely see the added benefit when shooting pets. You want good, hard light and the flashes do a great job of providing that.

James

Thanks for the explanation. There is a hint of pink. If you pull it up in PS and eyedropper it you've got about 10points more Red in a few places.

Yup, you can see it in the shadows. Having said that, the dog's colors look right on. Go figure.

It has a pinkish cast on my monitor, but, I wouldn't swear my monitor is accurate. I profile it, but, I still don't 100% trust it
