In our last litter of puppies (Cassidy/Blue), we had the smallest puppy we had ever bred, a 9 oz baby girl who got to wear the coveted pink ribbon.

Any concerns about Ms Pink dissolved as soon as she got on her feet and, even though she developed a bit more slowly than the other pups, she gave no quarter to the bigger boys or her bigger sister, Ms Yellow. She was tough, indomitable and aggressive in the litter, sweet, gentle and cuddly with people. We adored her and were delighted when she went to a home with people we know well who also have a Rowdy son named Gandolf.

Well, Ms Pink came to visit last Sunday. Her formal name is Trinity aka Annihaus Idol Tickled Pinkler (it was an American Idol litter) but we all tend to call her Pinkler most of the time. She walked into the house, saw her mom and Sundance and exchanged ear licks and then noticed that two of her brothers were in the room, Apollo (Blue) and Deakon (Lime) and she just ran over, jumped on them and started playing as if they had never been apart.

Here's a picture of Ms Pinkler just before she left us to go to her new home.

And here's a picture of her as of last Sunday.

The pups are now 7 months old and it appears that Trinity, at 60 lbs., may be the "teacup Rottie" we joked about when she was first born. But what a doll! We just love her.

Many of you said you wanted me to keep you updated on how the litter was growing up so here's the latest update. I'll have more after the next two weekends where two of the boys will be showing, one for the first time, Deakon, and Jag for the first time outdoors on the grass. Should be fun and I'll have my camera.

Wow, what a difference! She looks like a sweetheart. Kinda has that teenager getting ready for the world look about her.

Jim,
from a strictly "Rottweiler" perspective, she isn't the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen. But from the "cute" perspective, she has it all. I doubt that she'll ever show but I love her attitude, her joie de vivre and her confidence. She's really a doll both in size and behavior.

Happy, healthy and confident: if we can achieve that in our Rottie kids we've made a significant contribution to the breed. Beautiful is nice but it isn't the primary objective. Now, if it comes with the rest of the package, we're delighted but if not, it's not a huge issue. Creating great pets that people love is a pretty wonderful reward for all the work that goes into breeding.

She is adorable. I know nothing about show rotties, but, when it comes down to it, they are a show dog for a very short time and should be a pet forever.

Julie,
show Rotties look like Sundance -- even the girls (yikes)! Ms Pinkler looks like a Whippet . Not that I don't love Whippets.

I agree completely which is why we really try to place the "show prospects" in pet homes that are willing to try showing as opposed to show homes that keep them in a kennel and would be very disappointed if they did not turn out. All the "show" puppies in this last litter went to great pet homes. Some are starting to show but, right now, they have a lot of growing to do.

Meanwhile, people keep asking when we're going to show Sundance. And we keep saying "we'll see". He has more breed type in his right front paw than most male Rottweilers have in their entire bodies but he's not as correct structurally as we'd like. Plus, as you know all too well, the breed ring can get pretty petty. I don't know that we need to put him through the criticism that will surely come. He'll do just fine in Obedience, Rally, Herding, Carting and Therapy Work.

And Ms Pinkler will be a lovely pet and a wonderful companion. It doesn't get any better than that.
