Hey Guys,
#10 is coming for Chanthee and me in May. I would really like to do something different from what we have done in the past. In the last year, T and I have visited Yellowstone, Acadia and Death Valley. We did Grand Canyon on our honeymoon and, LOL, I just hated it. It was HOT. I have been wanting to go back again, but at a colder time of year.
Any thoughts of cool places to go in late May/June? In the event that I cannot think of something cool, I have been debating taking Chanthee to Yellowstone for Christmas as well.....
James

Jim,
Why not check out the North Rim of the Grand Canyon this time? The North Rim is much more remote than the South Rim, it is about 2000 ft higher in elevation so will not be hot that time of the year. (70s or so at the top). There is fantastic hiking both on and below the rim, and great photography. It is harder to get to from the Phoenix Airport, but well worth the extra drive.
Bryce Canyon is also cooler due to it's high elevation. I think it is well over 8ooo feet - we froze there a couple years ago camping in mid-March.
Just a thought.

Alaska is always a great choice! Unlike anything you've probably seen.

OK, I would vote for Alaska too although I've never been, I've always wanted to get up there. Another idea would be to go to Holland while the Keukenhof is open (the national flower garden). It is truly amazing and Holland is filled with many, many other photo ops and romantic getaways. The Keukenhof is only open about 6 weeks out of the year. http://www.keukenhof.nl/nm/english.html Or, take a walk on the wild side -- go to the Galapogos Islands http://www.galapagos.com/
