There was only one small spot with very little open water where the swans gather as Lake Michigan is frozen a mile off shore and it has been too rough for the swans to gather as the winds have been blowing for weeks.

Jerry, this is absolutely stunning. My only request is to post this in summer when it would add mental relief. This winter has been too brutal! Hope this shot was taken on a lovely day like today not in the sub-sub=SUB zero weather we have been having.

LOL, Peggy Sue, well said! Personally, I don't mind the winter. Chanthee and I were out with Mahkayla last night photographing the George Washington Bridge until my fingers started to freeze up...which sadly did not take too long. :P

Dude, your fingers wouldnt freeze up if you'd use your mittens with handwarmers installed and operating. . .

The wind chill was about -20 something, you are right it's been brutally cold. Where's Al Gores global warming when you need it?

You can have the hurricaines, tropical storms, thunderstorms, etc. I can always put more clothes on to stay warm but there is only so many clothes that you can remove and still be uncomfortably hot. Move to Florida and give up the bear scat in my backyard, the wolf prints in my driveway, the moose that is born in my backyard, the Northern Lights, etc.??? My wife would divorce me!!!!

Hey David,

Amen to that. You can always put on clothes but you cannot always take them off!! Having said that, to each their own natural disaster, LOL.

Cheers
James
