The article I linked to was about Antartica, not Alaska. The article discusses Antartica warming. It specifically mentions Antartica regional warming. The USGS study link I posted earlier concludes that scientifically the regional warming is not 'normal'.

Up until now, I have not even mentioned 'global warming' in this thread. But, since it has been brought up, here are some sources that contradict the assessment in the above post:

Alaska temperatures ARE going up...historical readings from 1949 to 2008

If you click on the map, it will give you a chart with a trend line clearly going up.

National Geographic on global warming

Polar Bears and the Inuit assessment:

Are ice shelves disappearing in the artic?
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/12/061229-arctic-ice.html

I'm not trying to prolong a debate, just posting counterpoints when I see statements that do not line up with my assessment of the facts.

Peace. I can agree to disagree.

University of Alaska Fairbanks might consider checking the temperatures with the weather bureau records. Just for April 1 - 15 the records are as follows:
April 1 Record high 49F in 1958, record low -16F 1985
April 2 Record high 56F in 1958, record low -17F 1985
April 3 Record high 53F in 1983, record low -4F 1975
April 4 Record high 52F in 1958, record low -5F 1952
April 5 Record high 49 in 1958, record low -4 1985
April 6 record high 50 in 1963, record low 0 in 1986
April 7 record high 50 in 1969, record low 0 1972
April 8 record high 53 in 1966, record low -6 1972
April 9 record high 50 in 1966, record low -1 1972
April 10 record high 53 in 1997, record low -2 in 1954
April 11 record high 55 in 1997, record low -8 in 1985
April 12 record high 55 in 1953, record low -15 1985
April 13 record high 49 in 1958, record low 0 1972
April 14 record high 51 in 1958, record low -6 1972
April 15 record high 55 in 1965, record low -9 1972

and it goes on like this for the entire year and the trend you see is that Alaska is getting COLDER, not warmer. This is not the first time UAF has been found wrong. Start looking at the actual climate records instead of reading the drivel that comes from different media, politicians and liberal schools. You will see that there is no global warming going on.

The national geographic articles are about Canada and we are talking about Alaska. Ice breaks up all the time, that is what makes icebergs, even in the winter. I stand by the numbers on Polar bears because that was the population counts done by the US Fish & Wildlife BEFORE Al Gore's movie when Fish & Wildlife was thinking about taking Polar Bears off the Marine Mammal act so that their numbers could be thinned out by white man hunting them again.

Again don't listen to me, look up the actual records yourself and you will see a different story than what is painted in the press or from politicians or scientists that has to preserve their funding.

Moderators, time to kill this thread, lock it up or whatever it is that you do.
