If you dont mind please provide time, date, and location of this "find."

at first glance i'm wondering if this is a real image at all and if it is, why it's so poorly developed.

Post the rest of the photos. . .

This corpse is definitely some type of canine, either a domestic dog or one of its wilder cousins (fox, coyote). The "flipper" you refer to is the scapula of the animal with the leg attached. It looks like some critters have been at the corpse.

I am somewhat concerned from these images about the cause of death. You said in your first post that you found this in the woods. However, from the last image this animal appears to have been in some kind of an enclosure and there appears to be a white water bowl in the picture. What's up with that?

looks like a pet dog to me, there may be other bones in there from another animal depending on what it was being fed, or not. . .

That bone youre calling a flipper is the scapula, as was pointed out, it's the shoulder of the dog. . .

By dog i'm not saying it's barny or rover, i'm using the term dog loosely, in fact it may be an exotic species so it may be hard to tell. . . get more information and take it to your local vet, he/she might know about this animal . . .

This unknown animal was put in this cage so that other animals wouldn't get at it until we could figure out exactly what it was. When we first found it, it was just in the woods. As far as the "flipper" just being the scapula, that would make sense if the other end wasn't attached to this animal. We shook it to see if it was indeed attached by the other end, and it was, so that's why we are so curious about the "flipper." Some other people were saying that it looked like some sort of K9, but the rings on the tail, and the weid flipper threw us off. also the back feet do not look K9, The cause of death is unknown- there were no bite marks or attack marks on it, so we are not sure. We are going to take more pictures of it. [image][/image]

Interesting. Is the clock on your camera set correctly?

Please tell me you are not messing with us here!

Those front legs cannot be attached in the orientation shown in these images. There is no mammal that I know of that would have front legs that long in ratio to its body size and the anatomy of the leg is completely reversed. The shoulder scapula is a blade or "flipper" shaped bone that is attached to the single thick humerus which is attached to the double ulna-radius. The bones are all there but the attachment is completely reversed. It appears that the legs were completely detached from the animal and then reattached.

The rear legs are not canine. They actually look more like a racoon's paws. Although you are in New York, you are close enough to Canada that this may be a very rare find of a Wolverine. The head and body look about right. If it is a Wolverine, it would have been pretty far south. If it didn't get there naturally, I guess there might have been some human intervention.
