just the image, not the frame, if I choose to use an image like this in my gallery I wont have the text and frame like this. . . but is this an image of a nanny and kid on a rock, or is it more than that?

I think the only issue with this shot is the B&W conversion. This is a shot with a LOT of detail and I am sure the type of shot Ansel himself would have a lot of fun working on. But right now as it sits, it just isnt "there yet". In other words it isnt maximizing its potential yet....and potential is one thing this picture ISNT lacking.

If you trusted me to work on it, I would LOVE a crack at the B&W conversion. It is somthing I dont do often.

I'll send you a file. It's not a black and white conversion really. It's a sepia, aged with some vignetting . . . I'd love to see someone work it over. . .

Can you deal with NDG files?

Thanks for the thoughts and the offer. . .

Tony,

This is an awesome image especially when you think about the position from which it was taken. I agree with Roman that the B&W is a little flat. However, my problem with the image is that for me it is about the nanny & kid and in this image they are so flat that there is nothing bringing my eye to the goats. I also have a problem with the hazy cliffs in the right background. The forground has pretty good detail and contrast, but the background does not. Finally, it is a shame the sky is blown out. It looks like there might have been some cloud detail there, but it's gone in this image.

Anyway I played around with this low res version to incorporate some of the ideas I discussed above and although the changes are subtle, it works better for me. YMMV.

thanks fellas. the light was not the best that's for sure. But it was good enough to produce a shot much better than I was able to make an image with it . . . the original is better than my attempt at it. . . Lets see what Roman can do with it once i get him the file. . .

I can't wait to see what Roman does with it. I can see a really amazing photo, but, I think some creative processing will bring it into a jaw dropping one

peggy, i dont mind. I used a aged sepia with a strong vignet and some selective sharpening . . .

Roman, i've tried twice now to send you the file and I get a bounce back from the email that you sent me. For example, i replied to your last email, with the full rez file, and it bounced back telling me that your email system would not accept mine. . .

Hum, now what. . .? I need to upload it to a server or ftp site, maybe that would work. . .

Tony
