I finally found a group that could use my help. The cats may be a challenge since the group is a TNR group (Trap, Neuter and Release) The kittens can be adopted out so this week is photographing at a Petco where they are placed to hopefully find homes. Blow dryers for grooming the dogs, automatic doors and lots of icky noises make it a tough place to get good window light without causing terror.
I would love to get some lovely shots of these darling kittens but for now these images are going to be placed in an empty store window during a festival in our local town. The group is called Fixin' Feral Felines, I must admit I would like to change the name.
Please give me your critique on the wanted posters. Anyone see any problems with the idea?

PeggySue,
love the poster; hate the name of the organization. Makes me want to do some trapping and neutering myself .

Looks like a fun project and one that should be very fulfilling. Check with Preston for cat portrait ideas. He's the best.

Very very nice. I like the creativity behind the poster too!

Glad you found a place that wants your services.

The poster and the image look great. I like the frame, the concept and the image. The Fixin' Feline name, not so much. It is nice to see you supporting their efforts thought, TNR does work.

I'm not sure of your logistics, but the info on the poster doesn't tell you how, when, or where the adoptions are happening.

Hey Peggy Sue,

Congratulations on your upcoming gig. I cannot think of a more worthy cause. First of all, as to your question about the poster - I think it is great. Preston's comment about the logistics of the event are valid though.

As to the name of the organization - well, that is really a secondary issue for me as you are working for them. I don't mind it personally as it definitely gets the point across. However, I bet that the very name really does potentially stop/deter adoptions though...and I wonder how many of the kittens/cats they are adopting are really feral and not just strays.

Having a truly feral cat in my home (I have had two), I can tell you that it is a whole different bowl of wax from a stray off of the street who has had human interaction. I love my feral (Jackie) a lot. She runs a tight ship at home , LOL, particularly since the boys have been gone. However, it was years and years to get her to the point where she has been comfortable accepting attention - and actually seeking it out.

Keep up the good fight.

James

Thanks so much for all the input. Unfortunately the store is no longer available for the event, so the project is dropped. Preston, I had planned on making a poster of each kitten available and then information in the window too. Maybe in the future but for now it is not going to happen. Since your work with cats is so lovely, if I get to do more for them, I hope to ask you for some help. My own cats are a far cry from feral so I am sure you have some hints.

James, I am so glad to hear you have a wonderful success story. This is the link to the gals that are doing this project. They have spun off from another rescue group that did not want to support TNR. Even when you are in the rescue game there is squabbling in the ranks.

I would not say anything to these people about their name but most people starting out don't have money to spend on good identity. Oh well, they are working really hard and I applaud them and will try to help whenever needed.

Jim and Jim, thanks for your input. I hope to use the idea in future PR for them, but will need to put new images on the posters. As we know it is a continual job to find homes.
