I don't know how get through that Jim, double whammy for sure. I hope Juneau's pups help fill that huge void a little anyway. I've always been impressed by how much you love your dogs each one is very lucky to live with you and Linda.

They look like they were a pair of larakins! It's good to remember the love & joy they brought to you, but it is always hard to bear the loss. At least they got to explore Rainbow Bridge together.

Tony, Tommy,
thanks for your words and your kind thoughts. We thought this Holiday Season would be very difficult without the two boys but having puppies really fills the void. And says a lot about renewal and moving on with life.

Hope you both have wonderful years in 2010 and I look forward to seeing more of your work, especially yours Tony. It's been a while.

Jim

I'm late in posting to this thread because I just joined today but I had to chime in to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your two dogs, Rowdy and Crash. I believe we live in parallel universes. Both my dogs Otis and Pickle Juice died one week apart back in September as well. The even more coincidental thing is, Otis had lung cancer. The first time he had it, it was the size of a football so I had that lung removed. 2 years later the cancer grew back in the same spot but this time it was stuck to his rib since there was no longer a lung there. It was huge and inoperable. He was in pain by the 3rd month after it had come back so I put him to "sleep". He was 17 years old. A week later my 11 year old dog, Pickle died mysteriously. I feel your pain Jim.

Julie,
17 years is a long time to share with a dog. You were very fortunate. Thank you for your condolences -- I send mine to you as well. Rowdy's lung cancer was clearly spread from some other organ, probably liver or spleen, which is why we opted not to operate. It would only have started a process with ultimately the same ending. So, instead, we shared life with him for 3 more months and he gave us joy for 3 more months.

Crash was more sudden but, in some ways, more kind. He had little discomfort and was still a pretty happy boy when we said "goodbye". I wish we had had more time to love on him but we couldn't trade that for increased suffering on his part. Besides, somebody had to warn the dogs at Rainbow Bridge not to mess with the Golden Guy and Rowdy knew that better than anyone.

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Jim
