On this one, I could not get the dead tree out of the frame and keep the wide angle of the mountains in back, due to steepness of the terrain. As it turned out, it seems to make up for the lack of foreground.

This is a famous spot near to us, " Guardsmans Pass " at about 10,000 ft above sea level at the ridgeline, from near the Park City resort

Beautiful job capturing the colors Marty. They are looking good up my way too and with today's snow would have made for some great shots. Unfortunately I just had my "good" knee cut on and won't be able to get out and shoot until next week probably. Even had to cancel a trip this weekend to Yellowstone. Keep the shots coming.

Thank-you- Hope the knee is better soon. Yellowstone will be cold this week. Where do you camp there?

One more. Mount Timpanogos, from Deer Creek Resevoir side

Timpanogos is a Ute Indian word, means " Sleeping Maiden" in paleface talk... you can see her profile in the ridgeline

Hey Marty,

Thanks for sharing. We definitely need to get a fall colors thread going. Of course, it is still not quite prime time here in NYC. The last of your series is my favorite. Great composition and nice colors.

James

It helps alot to have 11,000 ft + peaks around for a backdrop.Thank you James-
Are you still going to visit Zions / Arches this month?

i love the image here! the blues and the red flowers. The landscape that what i wanted to experience myself. Just some soft CC , for this image it would be best to use as foreground the red flowers in there perhaps getting close to the ground. same location but only this time having a foreground to cling on.

Thank you Karlo. The red ( not flowers) is the changing foilage of the Maple trees here, as they do for a short few weeks in the fall season- it occured to me as I read your post, you may have never seen this? Where is Cebu and Davao PI ? Are there 4 seasons there?
As this was shot from a cliff's edge, the foreground was a challenge although I agree it would improve the dimensions of the scene. Best I could squeeze from the topography. I certainly appreciate any improvements suggested and please remind me of them again!

Hey Marty,

Yes. I am going to be Out West come the 20th. I am very excited about this workshop with Steve Kossack at Canyonlands NP. I will be out the week prior with my pop and brother in Zion and Arches. It should be a good trip.

James,

When will you be a Zion? I will be there from the 11th - 15th. Any chance we will cross paths?

Dave
