Dee Dee, White Lightning and Alien Bees Strobes has the wireless flash trigger built in, so no need to buy a wireless flash trigger.

The "slave" units in most inexpensive strobes are OPTICAL slaves ... unless you put a flash on the camera, they won't work!
The cheapies I use are RADIO slaves, and have no need for an on-camera flash. You can then use a second or third unit's optical slave if you are using monolights.

yes but you can hardwire one of the strobes to your PC synch socket and it will fire the other one without having to buy an inexpensive combo PC connector or an expensive multiple wired trigger. They key being you can get by without all those wires to trip over.

I agree with you: I use the Morris radio triggers available from B&H and they work fine on the Alien Bees.

Is a watercolor less art than an oil painting? How about acyrlics? ceramics? sculpture? clay? metal? wood? photos? computer generated art? It is all different forms of art using different mediums. And anybody that is good in any of those mediums has talent. I am always ammused at the "art" community because they are so negative about new art forms. It threatens them because most artists never make a living in art unless they are an art teacher. Even in photography, the "fine art" photographers usually don't make a living at it, and the rest of us do make a living because we are not selling art, but preserving memories. Ethics only come into play here if somebody is misrepresenting their art.

Did you check the price of the eBay units? They are REALLY cheap! And as soon as you hardwire a strobe to the camera, you are not wireless, and you, or a client, can/will find a way to trip over it.
Worth the $30 or so for peace of mind!

Kenny, I'm interested in talking to you more about the work you do in Animal Hospitals. Are you a vet or do you work a contract with a vet? I think it would be something interesting to have down the road.

I'm not a vet ... nor do I play one on TV! I do have a contract with the animal hospital. In its original form, a percentage of the gross was kept by the hospital, and no rent was involved. At this point, I maintain their website and computers, and design their reminder cards, business cards, etc., so our deal has changed.
At first my setup was taken down when I wasn't there ... I work 12 hours/week (afternoons on M-W-F) in the "slow season" plus the occasional Saturday. The holiday months (Nov-Dec) may see me working six days a week, and foregoing outside work completely!
They've allowed me to mount a 3-roll seamless rack, and my room is never taken down ... it's now the permanent studio.
