I went to CR many years ago, and enjoyed the trip very much. Thanks for the reminders of the interesting bird population. Costa Rica sure is different than Mich.
I notice again that the sand is really dark due to the volcanic activity in the past, did you visit any of the volcano's?

It was a port call on a cruise ship, so I was only actually there for about 7-8 hours. Not counting the bus ride, the Mangrove tour was about 2 1/2 hours. Just long enough to wet my appetite to go back & spend more time there. I was amazed at the variety of bird life in the mangroves.

Did see a volcano off in the distance, but it was inactive. Thankfully.

Among our original retirement plans was a lengthy road trip down to Panama, but we've scratched that now due to safety concerns.

I believe the first egret is a Great Egret and the second is a snowy.

Hey Jim,

Great shots - the first photo is the one that grabs me the most...bedsides the croc. LOL, entirely for different reasons though. Very nice.
