1st post since June, 2010

1st Post in months. I have spent the summer and fall working for my client the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad doing videos & photos for their marketing department and their web sites. Now that the season is over I hope to get some time off to chase some wildlife. It will be interesting to see if I remember how.

If anybody is interested here is a link to some up-dates I did for the railroad this year.

Trumpeter Swan

On September 24, 2010 I left Chama early, I was on my way to meet Michael Ripley for a night shoot at the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. I wanted to check a little lake at Pagosa Springs to see if the Trumpeter Swans had come back this year. YUP!!! they were back and this year they had young-uns. I spent a couple of hours with them and then headed to Durango.

Hey Roger,

It is awesome to have you back! My favorite is the third of the series. I particularly chuckled with the caption.

Cheers
James

Roger:

Welcome back! Although I felt guilty pulling you away from your work, I really enjoyed meeting you on my visit up in your neck of the woods a couple of months ago.

We did the train ride the day after I dropped by your place. The weather held nicely and we had a great time. The Cumbres & Toltec is way, way better than the one in Durango. Everybody involved did a wonderful job.

Hey Jim,

You did the train? Do you have any shots from it?

James

James:

Yes, we splurged on the Parlor car and loved it. Like a dolt, I managed to get on the train after mistakenly having installed an almost dead battery instead of a fresh one. Compounded the problem by leaving all my other spares in the car. ARGH &^$

Only ended up with about a half dozen shots before my camera gave up the ghost. What I did come up with were nothing to write home about . . . especially compared to Roger's. I can't post any at the moment, anyway, because I'm down in Jim Garvie's neck of the woods on a well earned vacation from my extremely strenuous retirement.

Drove from Tucson to Florida for a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale . Spent a couple of hours at Everglades National Park on our way back from Key West this afternoon. I think I got a couple of nice captures. If so, I'll post a few tomorrow.

We really enjoyed the drive down Hwy A1A from Jacksonville along the Atlantic Coast and Everglades was great even though we only had a brief look see. We'll definitely be back with the camp trailer soon.

Jim
