I understand the need to create printer profiles for your printer and each type of paper. However, is it also necessary to have a different printer profile for each of your computers? I ask because I had some custom profiles created using one of my computers. I loaded the profiles into both computers, but the images printed from the computer that I did not use when creating the profiles are far too dark.
Does that mean I need to create custom profiles for that computer also, or do you think I have something set up wrong?
I would appreciate any guidance anyone would have.
I will leave this to someone much more knowledgeable than myself, but I THINK that they should be consistent from computer to computer. There has to be some default that is switched differently.
I am using an HP9180 printer with PS CS3. Using those systems and one of my computers, I printed some charts (color management turned off from both PS and the printer) from a company I found on the internet. I mailed the charts to them and they emailed me profiles that I then loaded into both computers.
The images look great when I printed them from the original computer, but dark from the other computer.
Naturally now the MB on the computer I used to create the profiles has crashed and the computer needs to be replaced; so I want to use the profiles on the other computer.
I am printing the exact same file on the same printer and paper, and I think I have all the settings the same - same paper selection in the printer and the same profile in PS... but from a different computer.
Everything you tell me is that settings on the new computer do not match the settings on your old computer. Unfortunatly if your old computer is dead, there is no way to go back and check.
You might be stuck having to re-profile the paper on the new machine and pay for a new profile.
As a computer tech, as well as somone who has worked out a lot on their printing processes, this is where my instincts point.
My monitors are calibrated but for some reason the prints do not come out the same between computers.
Roman - the OSs are the same between computers. I will go through everything to see if I can find something in my set up that is differnet. STrange, but it seems I should be able to figure this out. I would prefer to not have to go buy more profiles...
