We have had the bluebird house setup in the yard for the last 7 years. Every year a House Wren would beat him to it. We would get 2 or 3 broods per year in the "Bluebird" house but hardly ever even saw a Bluebird.
A couple days ago my wife spotted this guy on the fence. I didn’t want to pester them to much as it appears they have yet to lay their eggs. Once they have eggs in the house, I think I will be less apt to scare them away, and can get better shots. I mean if I hang out their to much they could consider it a less desirable neighborhood:) I think I will also setup a couple perches. I think I'll go get some dead branches and tie them to the fence so the photo will look more appealing. Unless you guys like the Styrofoam scarecrow head and the green wire.

Nikon D70 w/Nikkor 300f4 and Kenko 1.4x TC on the tripod.

Thanks, Jeff

You are a very funny man, Jeff.

What are you saying James, I suppose on some levels it is their natural habitat:) I have to get out there and provide some nice perches. We had some terrible winds here yesterday and did nothing outside. It was amazing though to watch what they can do even with the 30-40mph wind gusts. Again, I may wait for them to lay some eggs before I do to much.

Thanks, Jeff

LOL. I was just stating the obvious. Anyway, it is cool that at least they are in the right area. I would put a perch outside my window, but I don't see too many rats with wings.

Have to say Jeff the styrofoam doesn't do anything for me. The bluebird though is a beautiful catch: I hope you are lucky with them raising a family. The shot on the garden fencing is sweet, that one could be used in an "attract birds to the garden" article, it looks good.

Thanks PC. I love the bird, and assuming they stay I will get more! I have always wanted to see them more then a flutter by, so I am excited. These were the first try and are fairly large crops, maybe 60% of the original (6MP D70). I took these Saturday and we have seen them stick around. I was watching them while cutting the lawn, and when I was done they were back on the house.

James, you photographed your flying rats before, we don’t have many pigeons here. Maybe that will have to be a future thread, “what’s outside your window” type thing.

More to come,

Thanks, Jeff

LOL. Those were not rats. They were not even mammals. They were marsupials (sp).

Very nice Jeff. I like the one sitting on the fence the best.

Very pretty bird! Hope you were able to get some more shots and that they hung around.
