Hi. I am a beginning photographer with a Nikon d5300. My niece has asked me to photograph her and her horse. What focal length, aperture & shutter speeds do you suggest using?

Hi Stacey,

Welcome to the forum. It is hard to answer this question because it is very broad, and hard to do without knowing a lot of factors. May I ask what your comfort level is with the camera?

Are you doing this as a portrait or as a landscape? Indoors or outdoors?
What time of day are you shooting?
What will you be using as a light source?

James
