Hey Julie,
When you have big uncontrollable backgrounds, like the pool, I think I might have gone with a theme...this may sound horrible and cheesie, but LOL, I think I might have tried the Dane on the beach blanket, under the umbrella (assuming there is one), etc.
I will defer to Jim's technical advice. The idea of shooting even a Dane baby from down low, I think is a good idea.

Much better down low giving a more balanced, larger impression. There will be plenty of next times. I will tell my friend to swing the puppies on Wed and see if they will hold the stack better. I see you use cheese  I love heelers. I am not a huge herding breed fan, but the heelers are on the tops of my list as far as personality. If I had a farm, I would have one.
