My Wife added a couple of new types of plant to the gardens this year. I was surprised to see this one bloom already. I found the flower just before a thunderstorm. As soon as I got the flash setup it started raining. I snapped off two shot before I had to run inside. When I returned a couple days later, the flower was gone. They looked neat in the books, but in real life I was amazed at the flower. Almost orchid like, it is very different then what I am used to. It was about 1 inch in diameter.

Thanks, Jeff

Very nice images Jeff. It must have really been a hard rain fall to knock the beautiful flower off.
It goes to show that you have to take action during a fortuitous moment because it may be your last chance. Here's an example of a Turks-cap lily that didn't stick around long at the edge of our woods.

Cheers,

Thanks Scott. That too is a very nice shot. My lily probably made it through the rain, but like I said it was a couple days before I got back and it faded. Unfortunately none of the other plants have bloomed yet, but I think and hope they are late summer bloomers.

Thanks, Jeff
