I am not sure if my attachment will go through, but I will try. It is a photo of two pelicans landing on a lake near San Diego, Calif. Shot with a Canon 20D and a 75-300 lens. It was a quick grab shot.

Hey Shep,

Welcome aboard. I agree with PC. That is a great shot. Very clean background and great composition. Not bad at all for a 'quick grab shot.'

Curiously, which version of the 75-300 are you using?

James

James,
I was using the "older version" 75-300 Canon IS lens. Canon has a far better version: 70-300 IS I am told. But it is all a moot point as I have gone back to Nikon. I now have a D-200 with the 18-200 image vibration reduction feature. I think that is one of the main reasons I went back to Nikon -- other than the fact I have had Nikons since I was 16! Rangefinders and ALL of the SLRs through the F-3. I also have the new Nikkor 105 macro with the VR feature too. I will upload an example of that lens soon. Due to foolish financial concerns (penny wise and pound foolish) I bought a Sigma 80-400. I have had sharpness issues with that lens. I probably should have bought the 80-400 Nikkor. I donno....

To all: Thanks for the kinds words about my photo!

SHEP --in San Diego, Calif.

Congrats with the D200. I seriously considered one for myself as well. It is a very well built camera. Having said that, I decided I had way too much of an investment in Canon lenses - and honestly, both Canon and Nikon can make great shots.

Outstanding capture. Really like the fact that one is in the water and the other is a split second away from touchdown. Great color too.

Cheers,
