Hi Folks - here's a few shots from my recent road trip to Maine. Re the sunrise shot with the beached diving platform in the foreground - do you find that particularly busy, and too much so?

Oddly, my fav is the one of the cows (they're Belted Galloways, one of the first herds in the U.S.)...it took a loooooong time for them to arrange themselves in a composition worthy of a shutter click, and I love the half-circle they make...

I think they look good. The greens are almost too green (maybe too much saturation). I also would like to see more detail in the shadows of the first few shots.

While the blur you added to them changes to the mood, I'm not a fan of that style for these shots. It starts to work for me in the shot of the lake and island with the rocks in the foreground, and maybe it would work better for me if I could see more in the dark areas - same with the dry dock shot, and the lighthouse. Although, after looking more closly at the lighthouse shot, i like the mood, I would have moved over to the left just a bit. I have used the blur technique before, but only for portraits and the one wedding I shot this spring.

I prefer sharper edges myself.

All in all they are nice compositions.

Not so keen on the first two, they look a bit "industrial". The others - lovely, especially the Belteds and that is a very pretty pasture, the shot was worth waiting for - they are a popular breed here with the smaller holdings.

Its interesting. I really like the compositions of the first couple. They are real 'old new england' to me. Having lived in RI for much of my life, and having visited much of upper NE through my childhood, these images bring the feeling of home back to me very strongly.

In many respects, as much as I love the West, NE has a charm that exists nowhere else. There are no unspoiled places in NE, the signs of man are everywhere. However, somehow it still is beautiful.

I will agree that I do find the greens a bit strong. I am wondering if that is just the result of having shot on an overcast day.

From blured to over-saturated, to too industrial - all great comments, and the tweaking has begun! Thanks folks!

James, didn't know you were from RI - gorgeous up there. That vacation, though a week long, was waaaaaay too short...
