If youre on your way, here's what you can expect.

HE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREAT FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM MDT SATURDAY.

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 5000 FEET WITH LOCAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 FEET POSSIBLE OVER THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS. SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER FROM NEAR 6000 FEET THIS EVENING TO NEAR THE VALLEY FLOORS AND PLAINS BY SATURDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE AT THOSE LEVELS THROUGH THE REST OF THE DAY SATURDAY. LOCAL GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH BY LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUING INTO SATURDAY COULD CAUSE LOCAL BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW THROUGH FAVORED PASSES AND CANYONS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

next week should be just out of this world awesome for shooting in the Park!

Tony thanks for the update. We are leaving Seattle tomorrow early AM to get over there. I think I won't be shuch a great hurry.
You obviously have experince at Glacier with these types of storms. How soon would you expect to have things passable and what routes should we take thru the park?
We were going only spend three days in Glacier before heading up to Banff NP then Jasper. I have been told by a couple of wildlife folks that Glacier and Jasper are much better for wildlife viewing than Banff NP. Would you agree?
BTW you must live close to Glacier?

thanks for the constant updates.

Well - looks like you guys got some decent snow. Is it still there? I called my friend in Jackson - and she was commenting that there was plenty of accumulation there as well - though it is obviously greater in the higher elevations...too bad it will probably be gone by the time I get there on Saturday.
