Hi! I'm new here. I am really glad to find this forum. I'm another one launching a business and am so excited to be able to come and read all the great info waiting here. I must confess I am pretty much a huge fan of Helmi Flick and one thing I think makes her great is her willingness to share info. I contacted her on another forum (which is now defunct) and she gave me some great pointers that I have gotten a lot of mileage out of so far.
I have just finished a six months shooting every weekend at a huge pet store retailer and that was a great experience but...it is for the dogs...ha ha. I loved it, except for the retailer that is, but shooting all those dogs and working with the customers was invaluable. Now I am ready to work for myself and make some more money (the pay was abyssmal).
Sorry for the long post but I have a burning question I wish I could ask Helmi Flick but she is so busy and I have lost contact with her. How does she get that smooth tapered look to her posing table? It looks like the cats are posing on upholstery without sinking into the cushion. It looks so elegant and quite a contrast to when I shoot on my banquet table which just drops off like a cliff. Any ideas? I am shooting my sample portfolio for my website now and am so busy, I don't have time to sleep! I really want to know this answer. Thanks so much for any input.
