Wondering where one purchases the signs/boards for win pictures.....(not sure what the technical name is), but I mean the signs that show the club name and the win type (new title, first, second, best of winners, etc.) Thanks for any help!
I saw a photographer several years ago use a large 18% gray card in every shot she took. My wife and a few of our dogs earned some titles at the event and paid to have several photos taken.
When we received the photos it became clear what the blank gray card was for. First she could use the gray card to get the exposure correct at the shoot. In Photoshop the gray card can help set levels more accurately. And best of all, it gave her a nice "pallet" to add the correct text and titles in post production including the official logo of the sponsoring club.
It seems like a great idea. No letters to carry around and no panicky setup time between takes.
I stopped using signs 2 years ago because I got tired of hauling them ring-to-ring and because folks with digital cameras and camera phones were simply taking photos over my shoulder and not purchasing mine.
I do all my signs in PhotoShop. I simply take down the sign info when I take the shot and make the award part of the file name when I send out proofs. Exhibitors can add things like "A Major Win" or "New Champion" and I put them in once the photo is ordered. Simple. And I can put in the club's logo without spending any $$ on signs.
Thanks for the suggestions. I couldn't find the items in the catalog websites that were provided, but I actually like the idea of doing it in photoshop afterwards! Jim, do you have any photos done that way on your site? I looked but didn't see any. I would really like to see an example of what it looks like. BlueDog had mentioned someone using a gray card, do you do that or just insert the text over the background? Thanks again for the info. Michelle
