Honestly, I had not thought about it until you raised it as an issue. I think that a moderator should not be able to participate. However, I am happy to let you guys step down as moderators and join the contest. It would not be fair to ask you not to be able to participate as you, Julie and Peggy Sue just started moderating at the time I announced the contest. I do think, however, that it would look odd if a moderator won the contest. You know, "the fix is in" and all that.

Tony (Final Shot) is helping me judge the contest with Chanthee.

Welp, the contest has now started. I wish everyone the best of luck - and that hopefully it will be a lot of fun for folks.

Cheers

Wonderful idea for the contests and great prizes!

My question is; does the photograph have to be taken within the contest period?

Thanks,

Dick:)

Hey Dick,

Absolutely not. It is your best landscape shot - it does not matter when it was taken, so long as you were the one who did it.

Hey Everyone,

I just received two files (one of Mt. Moran and one of an eagle) that were sent into the contest without contact information. The eagle is a bit early (as we are not doing wildlife until next month) - but Mt. Moran is fair game.

If you uploaded this file, please re-submit it with all of hte information.

James,

I have another question. In the rules, it says to reduce to #8 compression. What does that translate to in # of bytes? #8 in my PaintShopProX is 450,000~ bytes for one photo I'm considering.

Thanks,

Dick:)

Hey Dick,

.jpg compression has a scale of between 1 and 12, 12 being the least lossy. 8 gives you something in between. If the file you are compressing at 8 jpeg is at about 400k, then my guess is you are sending a full size file. If you could, please make at about 1024 pixels at the widest end - this should bring the file to about 80-100k.

James
