I love these little fellows. It is always hard to find them with a good background and the right lighting. Does this look okay?
Tommy,
I know exactly what you mean. This looks like an easy shot, but after shooting these guys many times (at the San Diego Animal Park), I know how hard it is to get this kind of lighting and background. Technically the shot is very nice. I only have two quibbles. Composition wise I think the placement of the kat should have a larger space in front than in back, the direction in which it is looking. The large space you left behind him is distracting from his gaze forward. The other distraction for me is that little hair coming down from his chin. I don't want to get into the "ethics" of keeping things "natural" but that hair is distracting. I hope you don't mind my playing with the image, but here's what I'm talking about. I could only lop off some from the back. If you had more front space in the original image I would have left more space there. I also included my favorite pic of a Meerkat with a mouthful.
