Three from a couple of recent shoots. I got there late in the day for the Haflinger backlit shot to practice some of Julie's evening lighting. The sun went behind a hill before it got the really nice golden light but it did create some backlighting.

wow, those are cool. Looks like a lot of time and effort into those horses to keep them looking that slick. Thanks for posting. . .

Dee Dee,
very nice compositionally and the lighting is lovely.

Looks like you're gonna hafta get up early for some of that special sunrise light to really get the glow.

You have a great eye.

Jim

I really love the action in the first shot. How fun to shoot such beatiful horses. Do you shoot a great deal at one session?

I am addicted to taking these horse photos I am mainly taking them to paint from. I have hundreds now, plenty to paint but I keep going for more (after that elusive better-yet shot!). Peggy Sue I usually shoot several hundred at each, and that is with deleting the bad ones between horses.

I am lucky to have a cousin with some gorgeous horses and she is always up for new ways to get great shots of them. In the first one she turned one of her mares out with the stallion, knowing there wouldnt' be any trouble (this stallion is wonderful). We've taken her Friesian and this gray mare to the beach for shots before, etc.

This month I will be going to another Friesian farm with some gorgeous stallions (I try to only shoot stallions to paint, and those that they can let run at liberty), an arab farm with 2 national champions, another farm with a 19 hand Percheron stallion, and 2 andalusian farms, one with a cremello stallion with blue eyes and a black stallion. Oh and a mini horse at another place.

It's a good way to get my horse fix too. Some of the places offer to let me ride...

Tony some of these horses are worth a lot and are well taken care of, one that I painted recently was just sold for $85,000.00. I was disappointed because I only had $84,950.00 left to save to buy him! Heh.

Early morning shots would be nice! I'd like to try that sometime although I am usually getting to bed closer to sunrise than sunset

Those are beautiful Dee Dee. I think my favorite is the second. I love the backlighting
