Hey Tony,

Absolutely awesome shots - particularly the 2nd one. I see you made it into your avatar!

These were taken Saturday with Canon 20D and 5D cameras and a 500mm f4 lens, with various teleconverters. The people with me were unable to bushwack after them, but third times a charm...............

Hey Marty,

I have consistently thought about purchasing a 5d. How do you find going between the two?

I like having two camera bodies, and the 1.6 crop and full frame are complementry. I basicly have a light weight setup in the 20D with the lighter S series lenses, along with a 70-300 Is. It is lighter then my 5D, which I pack mostly with the heavier L telephoto's. Of course, if I am not worried about the weight, I can use the 20D with any of the lenses or use both bodies as i did from my car this week.
The IQ on the 5d is outstanding, it is better then the other. But the 20 is not shabby either. I especially like the 5d with landscape, as you would expect.
Another reason for my using two bodies, is that my underwater setup would be expensive to do over - my housing is for the 20D, and I do not want to re do it.
The controls are so similar between the two bodies, that it is intuitive also.

Hmmm, I've got a long weekend coming up. Care to share the location? I've saw one up on Ben Lomond peak here in the Ogden Valley and understand that these are some of the reintroduced sheep also. My understanding is that we are trading off Moose for the Sheep.
By the way, I like the crop/full frame option too. I use the 30D mainly for wildlife and the 5D for landscapes. I've got 5 Contax Zeiss lenses adapted for use on the EOS mount and they really shine for landscapes.

Hey Marty,

I had completely forgotten that you do a lot of under water work. I thought the 5d was significantly larger that it would require a different housing. I guess I am wrong. :P However, I thought that the housings were built intentionally with very little wiggle room.

Hey James,

Have all of the bulls lost their antlers yet?

You are correct, the 5D would require a different housing - so I still use the 20 for that -
