Finally got some white background paper and cleared out some space in the basement.
Maybe not the best pose, but I love the way his jowls rest on the floor and the symmetry of the front and back paws sticking out in each direction.

I'd appreciate hearing your opinions, comments, critiques, etc...

Very cute, mushy looking rottie

I would get some more light on the face of him. You may need to lower your light or just turn it up.

I do love the way he is sprawled out though!

Way cute! To bring him up on a white background, try bringing up the shadows in your image-editing program. That will lighten the blacks without blowing out the white.

Hi Anthony,

I agree with both Julie and Jim's statements. Essentially, the light placement in the photo was a bit off, resulting in the shadows on the front of the image but the right exposure behind the dog. Having said that - very cute guy. Thanks for sharing.

James

Anthony, this was a really easy fix. With the Rottie being black and tan and no white to blow out, all I did was touch a gray area in front of him with the levels white dropper tool, which snapped it into proper exposure. Then I did a little smart sharpen and bumped the saturation some.

Thanks for the comments. I think the monitor calibration isn't working the way it should. The images on the web are darker than intended. Bummer.

Anyway I found I did have the back light brighter than necessary so his back end is mainly lit from the backdrop. :-)
So you are all right on the money with the lighting issues.
