December 2008 Monthly Newsletter
Happy New Year! I cannot believe that this year has finished so quickly. I hope that everyone has a safe and healthy 2009, and that we will be seeing everyone returning to the forum with lots of new work. The forum has certainly had its fair share of new faces and great photos being posted. I am glad to see that we have had such a well balanced mix of folks in the forums (both new and old) sharing pictures, thoughts and ideas.
I know that for many of us, 2008 was also a difficult year. During these times of upheaval, I expect that many of us will be staying closer to home than we have in the past, putting off vacations or perhaps not making them quite as grand as we would normally. I also hope that everyone's passion for the art of photography will not be dimmed as a result.
As a recap to 2008, we have started a thread in our Nature and Wildlife Forum sharing the favorite photographs that we have taken over the last year. So far, it has been a wonderful thread, and it has gotten so large that we have even considered closing it and starting a second thread to help keep download times down. If you have not had a chance to check out the thread yet, please stop by, take a look, and maybe even share some of your own pictures.
http://www.nwpphotoforum.com/ubbthreads/...mp;page=0#19590Coming in early 2009, I will be posting a new story about my trip to Death Valley with Steve Kossack and his workshop. I am also finishing two interviews that I hope to be able to publish sooner rather than later. Also, in 2009, we will be making a concerted effort to publish daily updates on news within the National Parks System. We already started a pilot this month, and it has been a great success.
http://www.nwpphotoforum.com/ubbthreads/...part=1&vc=1Before I close out, I would be fairly remiss if I did not mention some of the great threads that have been discussed over the last month. Here are a few that I would like to highlight:
“When they shoot over your shoulder. . .” (NWP Shop Talk)

Cheers and Thank You,
