We are giving it a try. We are dealing with one Old Man (14) with high readings...and one young one (3) who is manufacturing struvite crystals.

I feel your pain! We have a male (Little Man) that had horrible sturvite crystals. We tried the Science Diet SD, which he hated. We added more water to his food, hoping to dilute the crystals. Ultimately, last December, after exhausting all options, we had to agree to the surgery to turn "him" into a "her" The vet felt so bad for us, this was a stray that somebody shot twice that practically died on our doorsteps, that he volunteered the surgery. I only paid for the meds. That amounted to an $1800.00 discount. After the surgery, he has been much better. I have yet to figure out how to post from Flickr, but here is the link:

After doing tons and tons of research on struvite crystals, we now feed the cats (and dogs) raw food. In some male cats, grains in the food will raise the PH in the urine too high. Especially corn. So after 6 months, we have not had a problem at all with his peeing.

Good luck with your old man.
